Why we're building more than one business

Hussaini Holding runs three businesses today. careOS is hospital management software for clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centers in India, and it is getting ready to launch. Petridian is a pet care app where families across India adopt pets from verified breeders. Adaahbe is a fragrance and grooming brand for men and women aged 20 to 35.

On the surface they have little in common. A hospital front desk, a family looking for a pet and someone choosing a perfume want very different things, and each business has its own name, brand and customers.

What they share is the way they are built. The same Hussaini Holding team designs, builds and runs all three, in-house. When we learn something while running one of them, the other two benefit from it.

We also stay with what we build. Launch is when a business starts meeting its customers, so for us it is where most of the work begins. Petridian shows this well. Adoption from verified breeders is live, and food, health care and other pet services are being added to the same app.

Running more than one business keeps us honest about the advice we give. Every decision about speed, support or maintenance is one we live with ourselves, in three very different markets.

We are careful about what we take on next. Every business we build starts with a clear reason to exist, and we would rather build a few things well than many things quickly.
